WELCOME TO CAVE DU VIEIL ARMAND
The History of a Name
The founders chose the name “Vieil Armand” because it’s this was the name that was given to the top of the Hartmanswillerkopf mountain. This mountain was an important battleground during the First World War (1914-1918).
Quality Wines
La Cave du Vieil Armand is one of the smallest wine cellars in Alsace. It is located at the most southerly part of Alsace and marks the entrance to the Alsace wine route.
The cave produces about 1,5 million bottles of wine a year from all of the most well know Alsatian grape varieties. It produces Grand Cru, late harvest, selection de grains nobles and Cremant d’Alsace. Importantly Cremant represents around 32% of the total production at Cave de Vieil Armand.
The Cave du Vieil Armand was established to give an impetus to the wines of Southern Alsace. Today there are 73 members who are wine growers between Soultz and Wuenheim. Between them they share 150ha of vineyards, stretching from Cernay and Guebwiller to the foot of the Hartmannswillerkopf mountain.
